ST. Cecilia Lubaga Cathedral Choir throws Easter Concert

On Sunday (April 21, 2024) St Cecilia Lubaga Cathedral Choir treated its fans to an exciting concert of Easter songs which also doubled as its centennial musical show. 

The late afternoon/evening sacred musical event attracted an impressive number of Christians who even included celebrities such as popular dramatist Sam Bagenda (alias Dr Bbosa) of the Ebonies.

The Cecilian choristers exhibited outstanding masterly of sacred choral music as they sang hymns of notable composers such as Fr Dr James Kabuye, Fr Dr. Joseph Namukangula, Fr Expedito Magembe, JK Bokwe, Charise Wood, JB Mubangizi,  Mary MacDonald, Hans Hassler, etc.

The Cecilian concert also featured Fr Anthony Aliddeki Musaala who wowed the congregation with his Afro-beat spiced Gospel songs such as Yesu Amefufuka (Swahili for Jesus has resurrected) and Tusimbe Ffenna Mukisinde.

The Chairman of the Choir, Mukoota Paul Nsubuga thanked the Christians and all the choir’s well-wishers for their love and support towards the choir. 

He revealed that the choir will make a pilgrimage of faith to Rome ahead of its centennial grand celebration, which will take place in November this year.

The Administrator of Lubaga Cathedral, the Very Rev Fr Achilles Mayanja paid tribute to the Cecilian choristers for their dynamic musical ministry at the Cathedral.

He later launched the choir’s CD/flash disc. Mayanja later announced the donation of Ugx2m from the parish and also, his personal donation of Ugx0.5m.
