Two arrested after theft of computers in Buliisa school

Police in Buliisa District have arrested two people in connection to the theft of 20 computers from Butiaba Seed School in Butiaba sub-county Buliisa District.

The suspects were identified as Rwamukaga Godfrey (57) and Bigirwenkya Alfred (38), residents of Booma in Butiaba town council and Garasoya village in Kihungya sub-county Buliisa district respectively.

The computers were stolen last week.

Speaking to the school head teacher Muponda B Samuel on Tuesday evening, said he got the information through a phone call from one of the night watchman identified as Godfrey Rwamukaga, alerting him about the theft of 20 computers from the school, and advised him to report the issue to Walukuba police post.

Muponda revealed that he was told by the watchman that, when it started raining, the duo went into one of the class rooms and slept thus prompted the unknown thugs who broke into the computer laboratory where they accessed the computers and managed to walk away with 20 of them.

He however disclosed that it has affected learning since ICT lesson requires hands on.

When contacted, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson Julius Allan Hakiza, confirmed the arrest and said they have detained two security guards who were manning the school ton the day of the incident.

He also added that, they have been apprehended on charges of negligence of duty, disclosing that investigations into the matter are still ongoing.
