Police spokesperson Fred Enanga has revealed that they had a meeting with the head of bouncers, Umaru Lubega, following the recent arrest of his colleagues that were found with uniforms that resemble those worn by the Police.

Bouncers are often seen at different hang out places such as bars and hotels decked in black clothes, black shades and jungle boots akin to those worn by the counter terrorism unit.

"We agreed on the uniforms they should wear, not the ones that that resemble those worn by the counter terrorism team. We call upon private security companies not to use government properties," Enanga said during a press conference at the police headquarters Naguru in Kampala on April 23, 2024.

He revealed that the bouncers who had been apprehended were later released, but the Police retained the attires.

In a brief interview, Lubega said they have been donning the uniform for eight years and  requested the Government to give them time to notify their members to stop its usage.

"We request the Police not to arrest them. We agreed to change the uniform. We went today (April 23, 2024) to the officials and we showed them the uniforms we agreed on so we are in the process of notifying over 100 associations that are affiliated with us. We are bouncers that follow police guidelines," he said.
