Rugby Cranes Sevens learn Olympic repechage opponents

World Rugby has released the pools for the Paris Olympic Games 2024 repechage tournament scheduled for 21 to 23 June in Monaco.

The three-day tournament has attracted 12 teams in both men's and women's categories.

Uganda’s men's side the Rugby Cranes Sevens has been drawn in Pool B with  Great Britain, Canada, and China.

Uganda qualified for the repechage tournament after finishing third in the Africa Sevens Cup in Zimbabwe, in September last year.

This is the second time Uganda qualified for the Olympic repechage tournament after 2019 in South Africa.

However, Uganda did not participate in the tournament that was held in Monaco for the 2020 Olympic Games in Japan due to COVID-19 that hit their camp despite checking in.

The Women’s side the Lady Rugby Cranes sevens is also in Pool B with Jamaica, Paraguay, and Hong Kong.

The Lady Cranes also qualified for the Monaco repechage after finishing third in the Africa Sevens Cup that was held in Tunisia last year in October.

In the Women’s category, Uganda will be making its first appearance.
