The sports fraternity turned up in big numbers at Christ the King Church for the requiem mass of fallen sports doctor James Mary Sekajugo.

Dr. Ssekajugo was found dead at his home in Bugolobi on Friday.

According to the captain of the Uganda Golf Club Emmanuel Wamala where the late has been a member, Ssekajugo could have slipped and died in his house over ten days ago, and that only a stench from his house prompted neighbours to start asking about his whereabouts until police broke in to find him dead.

At the mass, the National Council of Sports (NCS) chairman, Ambrose Tashobya hailed the late as a person they always consulted in many things even outside sports medicine.

“He has served on many sports federations as an administrator and an athlete and was also vital in making athletes perform well in competitions,” Tashobya noted.

The FUFA president Eng. Moses Magogo hailed Dr. Sekajugo for ensuring the safety and the health of sportsmen and conveyed a condolence message from former CAF official Ashford Mamelodi and also from the CAF medical committee.

“We have lost three sports personalities in a space of 10 days which is very sad for sports,” Magogo said.

Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) president, Dr. Donald Rukare also read condolence messages from the IOC where the late was the chairman of the CAF anti-doping Committee and also the vice president of the world anti-doping committee.

Sportsmen and women from badminton, golf, and football together with friends, and relatives, turned up for the mass that was led by Fr. Pius Male Sentumbwe.
