The second round of the University Football League (UFL) takes centre stage on February 15 with exciting fixtures on offer.

The follows quarterfinals draws at Lugogo Sports Complex on Thursday.

According to the draw, defending champions Uganda Matyrs University (UMU) who finished the group stages unbeaten will face Nkumba University.

Bugema University who also lost once against UMU during the season opener at Nkozi grounds will take on two-time champions Makerere University Business School (MUBS).

Meanwhile, two-time runners up SLAU who also lost one match against Nkumba during the first round of the season will also face two-time champions Kampala University.

The most captivating fixture will be against 2019 champions Uganda Christian University (UCU) against Makerere University.

Both UCU and Makerere are eager to add a second gong to their trophy cabinet.

UCU head coach Jimmy Kintu is optimistic that his side is in position to sail to the next stage of the competition. 

“We have been preparing hard without having a clear picture of what lies ahead but now that we are aware, we have something to prepare for the few remaining days. We respect Makerere but we are going to do everything possible to see that we qualify for the next round," said Kintu.

The draws were based on two pots where teams that finished at the top of their groups that is UMU, MUBS, SLAU and UCU were placed in Pot A, while teams that finished as runners that is KU, Bugema, Makerere and Nkumba were placed in Pot B.

They were conducted by the Association of Uganda University Sports (AUUS) vice president Vincent Kisenyi, General Secretary Patrick Ssebuliba and Red Rhino’s Obal Atubo yesterday at Kati Kati restaurant in Lugogo.

Vincent Kisenyi cautioned participants on discipline ahead of the kickoff of the second round of the League.
