The pulse is still beating at Namuwongo Blazers.

New sponsors are coming on board, which depicts the level of commitment with the presence of Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny Dollo at the club's helm in support.

The Kisugu resident advised the players to take on sports with discipline to achieve it all in life.

"Up your game with discipline on and off the pitch and give the ultimate prize to the sponsor," Dollo advised.

He noted this on Wednesday evening at Britam Assets Managers Uganda's head office at Nakasero, Kampala where he was the chief guest at the ceremony and Namuwongo Blazers got a financial boost of sh20m.

This financial boost comes in handy finding the Blazers in fourth place on the table standings of the National Basketball League with 9 points and three losses from six games played so far.

With the adrenalin of the Namuwongo Blazers running in his blood, Dollo commenced the team to win and give back to the fans and a long list of sponsors.

“The only way you can make a return on investment in the sponsors who have bestowed their trust in you and given a financial boost, fans who come through thick and thin to watch your games is by winning and coming out champions,” he added.

In their inaugural season in the National Basketball League (NBL), the Blazers made it to the final, where they fell short of the formidable City Oilers in the decisive game seven in 2021.

Ronald Kasolo, General Manager of Britam Assets Managers Uganda, expressed the company’s gratitude towards the partnership.

“The Blazer's commitment to excellence and community service mirrors our service at Britam, where we strive for a positive social impact.

This is the driver that propelled us into a partnership to achieve one goal as a team,” Kasolo stated.

Nam Blazers Chairman, George Nkya, emphasized the significance of the sponsorship in advancing the club’s mission, vision, and long-term strategic goals.

“Getting a financial boost of sh20m is a great relief to the club but we are also eager to make the sponsors proud and win at whatever cost to give them no room for regrets,” Nkya strongly noted.

This season, they have won four out of five games, against Kampala Rockets, JT Jaguars, Our Saviour, KIU Titans, and KCCA Panthers.

They tussle it out with rivals City Oilers on Friday which is an early test for them this season to prove how good and title-hungry they are if they are to make it to the play-off.
