Top Nigerian film stars Osita Iheme, Ramsey Nouah, Uche Ateli, Nancy Isime, and Chris Odeh are expected to grace the Ikon Awards scheduled for March 23, 2024, at Kampala Serena Hotel.

The producer of the show, Usama Mukwaya, informed New Vision that they will be in the country starting Tuesday, March 19, to participate in a series of events leading up to the anticipated awards night.

He explained that the stars' presence aims to inspire and encourage collaboration among filmmakers for the advancement of Africa's film and television industry.

"Sometimes building relationships is facilitated through food, enjoyable events, and more. Their visit serves as a catalyst to unite filmmakers in Uganda, Nigeria, and beyond," Mukwaya stated.

The stars are expected to lead workshops, participate in a film forum, and oversee an incubation programme for filmmakers. The incubation programme will identify an overall winner whose concept will be developed into a feature film produced jointly by film production houses in Uganda and Nigeria.

Mukwaya assured that the event would be a high-caliber programme, emphasising glamour and sophistication, providing a Hollywood-like experience filled with enjoyment.

Osita Iheme, an actor, producer, and author, gained fame for his role as Pawpaw in the film Aki na Ukwa alongside Chinedu Ikedieze. His repertoire includes roles in movies such as Baby Police, 2 Rats, Back From America, and Green Snake.

Ramsey Nouah, also a Nigerian actor and director, is renowned for his performances in movies like Guardian Angel, The Figurine, True Love, Super Love and Battle of Love. He earned the nickname Loverboy for his romantic roles.

Nancy Isime, an actress, model, and media personality, has appeared in productions such as A Better Family, Club, Johnny Just Come, and Disguise, showcasing her versatile talent.

Uche Ateli, a Nigerian scriptwriter and editor, has contributed to projects like Choke and The Bride Price, demonstrating her prowess in storytelling.

The iKon Awards - Film & Television acknowledges and celebrates achievers and personalities in the film and television industry, as well as mainstream media in Uganda and across Africa.

Founded by Humphrey Nabimanya, the initiative is produced by Usama Mukwaya and presented by SAUTIplus Media Hub. The inaugural edition took place on March 25, 2023, at Kampala Serena Hotel and featured Nigerian stars Ramsey Nouah and Chris Odeh.
