KCCA FC defender Fillbert Obenchan has reaffirmed his commitment to the club by signing a new two-year deal that will keep him at MTN Omondi Stadium until 2027.
Expressing his joy after penning the extension, Obenchan described the club as his lifelong home. “This club is my home. I grew up here, and everything I’ve achieved in the game has come through KCCA FC,” he said.
A product of the club’s academy, Obenchan has been with the senior team since 2017 and remains a cornerstone of the squad thanks to his versatility across the backline. Nicknamed ‘The Warrior’ by teammates, he is known for his grit and leadership.
“I’m happy to extend my contract,” he added, acknowledging the strong support system around him. “The management, coaching staff, teammates, and especially our fans have always been incredible.”
As vice-captain, Obenchan has routinely stepped up in the absence of Julius Poloto, and he remains optimistic about the club’s trajectory. “I believe in the vision of this club. My heart is here, and I’m ready for the challenge ahead.”
Last season, he featured in 15 league matches, starting 14 and logging over 1,200 minutes on the pitch. His contract renewal is the latest in a series of strategic moves by KCCA FC, including the return of veteran defender Herbert Achayi, the signing of right-back Lazaro Muhindo from Kitara FC, and the acquisition of striker Ivan Ahimbisibwe from URA FC. Brazilian forward João Gabriel Esteves Cardoso has also extended his stay until 2027.
Obenchan’s extension not only reinforces squad stability but also signals KCCA FC’s clear intent to build a competitive, resilient unit heading into the new season.
