African Nations Championship

Monday 11th (Group C)

South Africa v Guinea 5pm

Uganda v Niger 8pm

Uganda Cranes head coach Morley Byekwaso says his side is fully prepared to face Niger in their third CHAN Group C fixture, with the goal of securing all three points and boosting their chances of reaching the knockout stages.

“Every game presents different challenges and requires a unique technical approach,” Byekwaso noted.

“I can’t guarantee the same lineup, but we may make a few changes based on our analysis of Niger. Players who performed well in the last match will be given another opportunity.”

Byekwaso praised the team’s spirit and readiness ahead of the clash.

“The boys are in high spirits, more than they were before the Guinea game. We know Niger will come out fighting after their opening loss, but we’re ready to match their intensity and go for the win.”

He also expressed gratitude to the fans for their passionate support in the previous match.

“This game means a lot to us. I truly appreciate the fans—their energy was incredible. It was my first time seeing such a massive crowd behind us. We respect them deeply and promise to give our very best. A win here would greatly improve our chances of advancing.”

Uganda regained momentum with a commanding 3–0 victory over Guinea in their second group match, courtesy of goals from Reagan Mpande, Allan Okello, and Ivan Ahimbisibwe.

Heading into the third round of fixtures, Niger sits bottom of Group C with zero points from one game, while Uganda is second with three points just one behind the group leaders, who have four points from two matches.

The match will be played tomorrow at 8:00 PM at Mandela National Stadium, with Uganda looking to climb to the top of the group.
