NRM Primaries: Owiny-Dollo’s brother wins Agago LCV seat

The announcement was made on July 25, 2025, by Stephen Omara, the NRM district registrar for Agago. Ojok received 36,340 votes. His closest rival, John Wilfred Okello Ateng, got 29,327 votes.

Leonard Ojok Opiyo, brother of Alphonse Owiny-Dollo, the Chief Justice of Uganda, has won the flag for the Agago district chairperson in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) primaries.

The announcement was made on July 25, 2025, by Stephen Omara, the NRM district registrar for Agago. Ojok received 36,340 votes. His closest rival, John Wilfred Okello Ateng, got 29,327 votes.

Wilson Otto received 21,591 votes, while Simon Odoch got 5,596 votes, and Gertrude Lilian Abalo had 2,176 votes.

In Kitgum district, Cyrus Odongkene, the NRM returning officer, announced that Tony Oleneg Toolit will be the NRM candidate for the Kitgum district chairperson position.

Toolit recently joined the NRM after leaving another party, the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC).

He polled 16,780 votes, while Fred Onencan Acellam received 6,975, Emmanuel Oryema Langabi got 6,442, Dr. Luka Nyeko, who was the LCV for Kitgum from 2011 to 2016, had 4,042 votes, and Eng. Samuel Atochon Odong received only 2,294 votes. 

After winning, Toolit thanked the NRM members for their support and promised to work hard for the party as he prepares for the general election.
