The Cricket World Cup Trophy Tour will come to Uganda from August 25-27 ahead of the ICC World Cup set for October 5 to November 19 in India.

The World Cup trophy tour will journey around 18 countries and 40 cities one of which is Uganda. Three African countries including Nigeria, South Africa and Uganda will host the trophy.

Alan Mugume, the Uganda Cricket Association CEO, welcomed the tour and promised to use this opportunity to grow the game.

“We are very excited to be hosting the World Cup trophy in Kampala after being chosen by the ICC. We want to leverage this opportunity to continue our primary role of spreading the game throughout the whole county,” he said.

While the history of the game cannot be ignored this is a brilliant chance to help the cricket brand attract more sponsors with the country looking to attain ODI status.

“We want to use this opportunity as well to connect the game to key partners in the growth of our game as we seek new partnerships that we help in the development of cricket in Uganda,” Mugume said.
