Many in the local cricket fraternity made their way to Kyambogo including former Cricket Cranes captain Davis Karashani and current Victoria Pearls captain Consy Aweko.

“The presence of this trophy in our country is like a blessing to us as players. We have found a way of seeing where we want to be and it has drawn our dreams so close and it has given us the momentum to pick ourselves up and work hard,” said Aweko.

The majestic trophy was a sight for sore eyes in its golden glory. Gleaming in the scorching sun, was an opportunity to sell the sport to all kinds of Ugandans.

“The trophy tour significantly helps raise awareness and excitement for the game. Cricket is currently the second most popular sport in the world and we believe we can grow the sport. Africa is a big market and why not bring the trophy and excitement to Uganda,” said ICC representative Eddy Fwamba.

The trophy will on Monday go to Jinja and will be presented to the Schools Cricket Week attendees at the Jinja SS oval.

The trophy will then be presented to the Speaker of Parliament Anita Among before it leaves Uganda for Nigeria and then South Africa.
