Congo and Sudan share spoils in CHAN 2024 clash

Congo and Sudan battled to a tense 1-1 draw in their Group D opener at the CHAN PAMOJA 2024 tournament in Zanzibar.
The competition, which features players from domestic African leagues, witnessed its first-ever clash between the two nations at Amaan Stadium.
Musa Hussien gave Sudan the lead in the 29th minute after sustained pressure, but Congo equalized late through Carly Ekongo’s 86th-minute strike, ending a three-match goal drought.
Sudan threatened early and again deep into stoppage time, but Congo keeper Ulrich Samba kept his side alive with key saves. The result continues Sudan’s winless run at CHAN but showed promise ahead of their clash with Nigeria. Congo, meanwhile, gears up to face defending champions Senegal.
