After the spirited fight to win medals at the African Games, the women's national badminton team is in Europe in search of qualification points for the Paris 2024 Olympics Games.

The double pair of Husina Kobugabe and Gladys Mbabazi won a gold medal in Ghana and Fadila Shamika won a bronze medal.

They are competing in both the individual and doubles events for the Paris 2024 qualification.

From Ghana, the four players, Kobugabe, Mbabazi, Fadila, and Tracy Naluwooza went straight for the Orleans Masters in France.

From France, the team shall proceed to the Swiss Open in Switzerland starting March 19 to 24.

They will then proceed to Spain for the Spanish Open from March 26 to 30.

The players will then travel to Kazakhstan from April 1 to 5 and then to Slovakia from April 16 to 20.

The team shall then proceed to China for the Thomas and Uber World Championship finals.

Uganda qualified for the Thomas and Uber Cup Championship final.

The national coach William Kabindi will not be travelling with the players.

“They will manage themselves because they all have enough exposure. The target is to gather points on the road to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games,” noted Kabindi.

In the Olympic qualifications, Fadilah and Husina are in 3rd and 4th on the continent respectively.

On the world rankings, they stand at 101 and 119 respectively in the single events.

In the double events, Kobugabe and Mbabazi stand at 64th as Fadilah and Naluwooza are 79th in the Olympic qualification for the Paris 2024 Games.
